For non-logged-in users: The submitted text or URL is sent once to Anthropic (see point 5) for analysis. In our database we store the submitted text along with the AI / fake score, detected signals, input length, timestamp and a SHA-256 hash of the IP address (truncated to 16 characters). This serves quality assurance, improving detection accuracy and abuse prevention. Uploaded images are not stored permanently. Please do not enter personal or confidential data that is not required for the check.
For registered users we additionally store: email address, password (as a hash only), registration date, verification status and the full text of your own analyses, so that your personal history and the detailed reasoning can be displayed.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of contract — providing account features) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operational security for the IP hash, and in quality assurance and service improvement for storing the input texts).
On every request the web server automatically records the IP address, browser type, timestamp and requested resource for the purposes of operations and abuse prevention (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are deleted after no more than 14 days.
Only strictly necessary cookies are used (a session cookie for login and a language cookie). No tracking, analytics, advertising or third-party cookies are used. Consent under §165 TKG 2021 is not required for strictly necessary cookies.
No personal data is shared for advertising or marketing purposes.
Account data and analysis history are stored until the account is deleted. You can request deletion of your entire account including all associated analyses at any time by emailing office@fakedetector.at; we will act on the request without undue delay.
